Warsaw: Old Town & Royal Route

Your day begins at The Royal Castle in Warsaw, the former residence of Polish kings and a key center of political life. Destroyed during World War II, it was rebuilt with extraordinary care and now showcases royal apartments, artworks, and historic documents that reflect Poland’s resilience.

Continue into the Old Town to visit the Museum of Warsaw, located in historic townhouses on the Market Square. The museum presents the city’s story through everyday objects, architecture, and personal histories, helping you understand Warsaw beyond its monuments.

In the afternoon, walk along the historic Royal Route to the Presidential Palace, the official residence of Poland’s president and an important political landmark. End the day at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, a powerful memorial honoring fallen Polish soldiers, where you may witness the ceremonial changing of the guard.

Warsaw: Parks, War & Jewish History

Start the morning in Royal Baths Park (Łazienki Królewskie), Warsaw’s most elegant green space. The park’s highlight is the Palace on the Water, once a summer residence of King Stanisław August, surrounded by classical pavilions, gardens, and roaming peacocks. It offers a calm contrast to the city’s intense history.

In the afternoon, visit the Warsaw Uprising Museum, one of Europe’s most acclaimed historical museums. Through immersive exhibits, soundscapes, and personal stories, it tells the dramatic story of the 1944 uprising and the city’s near-total destruction.

Later, stop at the Monument to the Ghetto Heroes, which commemorates Jewish resistance fighters of the 1943 Warsaw Ghetto Uprising. The monument stands as a solemn symbol of courage, loss, and remembrance. In the evening, travel to Kraków.

Overnight: Kraków

Kraków: Old Town & Market Square

Begin your Kraków visit at Rynek Główny, the largest medieval market square in Europe and the vibrant heart of the city. For centuries it has been a center of trade, culture, and social life, surrounded by historic townhouses and cafés.

Visit St. Mary’s Basilica, famous for its magnificent Gothic altarpiece carved by Veit Stoss. Every hour, a trumpet signal known as the hejnał is played from the tower, abruptly ending in memory of a medieval warning call.

Afterward, explore MNK Sukiennice (Cloth Hall), once a major international trading center and today home to a gallery of 19th-century Polish art and souvenir stalls. End the afternoon with a relaxing walk through Planty Park, a green belt created where the medieval city walls once stood.

Overnight: Kraków

 Kraków: Wawel & Kazimierz

In the morning, visit Wawel Royal Castle – State Art Collection, dramatically located on a hill above the Vistula River. For centuries it served as the seat of Polish kings and remains one of the country’s strongest symbols of statehood and cultural identity.

Next door is Wawel Cathedral, the coronation site and burial place of Polish monarchs and national heroes. Its richly decorated chapels and the famous Sigismund Bell make it one of Poland’s most sacred buildings.

In the afternoon, head to Kazimierz, Kraków’s historic Jewish quarter. Once a separate city, it is filled with synagogues, cemeteries, and museums, and today also known for its artistic energy, cafés, and restaurants that blend memory with modern life.

Overnight: Kraków

Auschwitz-Birkenau

This day is dedicated to visiting Auschwitz-Birkenau Memorial and Museum, the largest Nazi concentration and extermination camp. Preserved barracks, gas chambers, and personal belongings bear witness to the scale of the Holocaust.

The site serves as both a museum and a place of remembrance for over one million victims. A guided visit provides essential historical context and ensures a respectful understanding of this profoundly moving place. The evening is kept free for rest and reflection after returning to Kraków.

Overnight: Kraków

Wieliczka Salt Mine

Travel to the Wieliczka Salt Mine, a UNESCO World Heritage Site located just outside Kraków. Descending deep underground, you will explore tunnels, chambers, and lakes carved entirely from salt over centuries.

The highlight is the breathtaking Chapel of St. Kinga, complete with chandeliers and sculptures made of salt. The mine is a remarkable blend of engineering, art, and history. Return to Kraków in the afternoon for free time or a relaxed evening.

Overnight: Kraków

Morskie Oko (Tatra Mountains)

Your final day takes you to Morskie Oko, the most famous lake in the Tatra Mountains. Surrounded by dramatic alpine peaks, it is considered one of the most beautiful natural landscapes in Poland. The walk to the lake follows a wide, paved road and is accessible to most visitors. The scenery changes with the seasons, making it a favorite spot for photographers and nature lovers. After time at the lake, return to Kraków.
